I recently read a blog by one of my favorite teachers, Melody Beattie.* We also use her work in my school, The S.W.A.T. Institute.
Melody had asked a fellow therapist “what the one thing was that hallmarked the unhappy state of being many of us have come to label as codependency.”
“It’s the Karpman Drama Triangle,” he said. “People rescue someone by doing something they don’t want to do, or it’s not their business to do. Then they get angry and persecute the person. Then they walk away, feeling like a victim. Again.”
Not only did Melody’s ‘light turn on’, but she also shared her aha moment: “Like a gerbil on a wheel, I could see myself spinning around this triangle. I was regularly rescuing somebody, then getting angry, and ultimately feeling victimized by it all. I was creating the pain and the drama in my life.”
Does this sound familiar?
There are too many women, especially, caught up in this circle of rescuing and then feeling hurt and unappreciated.
I used to be one of them… (and still, I have to watch myself from falling back there!)
The reason it happens is that we don’t know how to protect ourselves.
We love to love. We want to help those in need. But we don’t have healthy boundaries.
The real trouble is when we give UP ourselves rather than giving of ourselves. We give more than we can afford to lose and then we’re angry that they took ‘it’ from us.
Are you ready to stop this self-destructive pattern?
Over the past ten years, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering the empowerment process so that I can help those who want to help themselves without giving myself away.
In other words, I now teach people how to fish, rather than to give them my food while my children and I starve.
These interventions and processes are the foundations of the S.W.A.T Institute (Simply Woman Accredited Trainer), and I would love to show you how you can both empower yourself while learning how to empower others in a way where you are both left feeling enriched!
All relationships have to be a win-win to work!
I’m opening up my schedule for the next two weeks to chat with women who are ready to learn from me… to become an Empowerment Coach.
To learn the ‘meat & potatoes’! (And yes, even though I’m a vegetarian, potential clients need to know that you know what you’re doing!)
If you are ready to step into your power and to learn for yourself the specialized empowerment coaching process, book a private Discovery Session with ME today!
There are a handful of spots open in my calendar! If you are ready to ROCK THIS WORLD, let’s talk!
